Description: Dooly

A dooly is a sedan chair, often made out of bamboo, which is used to transport a person to a place. Two to four people carry the dooly with the passenger to the destination. It's a little work!

Dooly Design Team

The Dooly Design Team was created inspired by a client who wanted their participants to "Listen to the Voice of the Customer". To accomplish this in an outdoor venue with a nice appealing Chinese accessories, ALTEC created a whole new scenario.

The BIG TEAM is divided into groups of 8-12 (or more) participants.

Each group receives an "order" to supply a dooly that must be built to specifications and accessorized according to the wishes of the customer.

DoolyEach group has raw materials (some pre-crafted) and tools to manufacture the basic sedan chair. They also have access to a company "warehouse" which contains items to accessorize the dooly. Each accessory has a wholesale and retail price, and records are kept on how much is spent in making each customized dooly. All of this affects the retail price, which each group must be aware of.

Each group must find the customer and ask the right questions. The customer might not "volunteer" information, making guesses on the part of the groups even more costly.

For example; pictured right is a "Bridal Dooly", made for a once-in-a-lifetime" event, built for safety and comfort, and very appealing to the customer. The roll-out is a very big deal, and the presentation is designed to entice the client to buy.

The big question is: Will the customer purchase the dooly?

This is where a series of negotiations comes into play. Driven by greed, some groups make their dooly unreasonably expensive. Others try to fool the customer into thinking they are delivering more than what they really are. It's very creative and extremely entertaining.

Outcomes from this event are usually focused around finding out the right information from the right source, building as precise as possible without overproducing, and selling the dooly at a price that is within the customer's budget.
