Detailed Introduction
Background:
- Everest! is about the team and group planning, executing, risk taking, trust, and proper management of resources. Groups are given a thorough briefing on the expedition, then 15 minutes to plan and trade resources for the ascent and safe return to Base Camp.
- Groups set out from the Tibetan village of Kirgi toward a series of camps and finally the 8,488m summit. There are three different routes, each with different terrain, risks and weather conditions which will impact resource consumption.
- There are opportunities to purchase and trade resources at camps, which allow some groups to acquire what they need along the way.
Goal:
The objective is to be the first corporate team to summit Everest. This is both a team and a group objective and each group is expected to contribute to overall team success. Many variables affect overall team performance.
Activity Setup:
- The simulation runs 30 days, each day only 2 minutes long. With two brief pauses, total simulation time is approximately 60 minutes. During the 60 minutes, all team and group members are deeply involved in the simulation, working to achieve maximum team success.
- The simulation ends on Day 30, and the learning adventure begins with a thorough debriefing on how groups performed, and how each group’s performance contributed to team success.
Key Learnings:
- Everest! will help your team discover existing obstacles to teamwork, and also give them a “safe space” to formulate new ways to improve communications and teamwork for the benefit of the entire organization, not just for one workgroup.
- This makes Everest! a masterpiece in simulations, and a memorable learning experience for any team that desires to excel in today’s competitive, rapidly-changing marketplace.
- Discover how the Everest! brings the hidden strengths of your team to the surface, and how dynamic your team will become to “push the envelope” for your organization’s success!
- Everest! is a powerful opener for large retreats and a memorable base for your team building workshops. Custom-designed half-day, full-day, and multi-day events (indoor/outdoor combo) are available to meet your specific team requirements.
