Success by Design (Work-Life Effectiveness)

Purpose: Making Time for the Things that Truly Matter to Achieve Work /Life Balance

  • Understanding the fundamentals of goal setting and prioritizing to create a compelling future
  • Discovering what is most important to you and developing a system for writing goals at work
  • Developing a system for planning and control in carrying out those goals
  • Identifying time wasters and inefficient behavior
  • Using powerful tools such as STOP questions as a guide


Process: To define and create measurable success criteria for work/life effectiveness through:

  • Measurement and analysis of current time allocation habits
  • Identifying costs and inefficiencies of behavior
  • Articulating core values and setting goals that link to personal vision
  • Action planning based on clearly developed plans


Payoff: What can people learn from this course?

  • Each participant will answer a series of questions in the pre-workshop survey to invent a Personal Vision.
  • Using the ALTEC Life Balance Wheel, participants will identify the 8 parts of their lives and analyze how much time they spend in each.
  • They will then create a place for the areas that contribute most to their vision of who they want to become.
  • Finally, they will establish an action plan to begin measurable steps toward achieving their vision.

  • The S.T.O.P. tool
  • Asking powerful questions
  • Four tricks that save your time
  • Creating a vision

Day 2 Morning: Effective Decision Making

  • The Importance of Goals
  • Asking Powerful Questions
  • The basics of Time Management
  • Discussion: What is stress?
  • Group share: What are the main courses of stress for you?

Day 2 Afternoon: How can I manage stress better?

  • What are different definitions of stress?
  • Lecture:
    • Stress reduction techniques
    • Quick tips for managing stress
  • The 80/20 principles
  • Summary
  • Conclusion
